Beginning Monday, March 16, Hertz will be the University of Iowa’s vendor for local rental vehicles. The change will reduce costs for university departments renting vehicles and offer additional services to campus.
National and Enterprise continue to be the university’s preferred car rental agency when renting vehicles outside of the local area. The contract with Hertz is only for rentals from Iowa City to your destination, in lieu of driving a personal vehicle.
Fleet Services will continue to provide lease fleet services, maintenance of leases, and local fueling.
We appreciate your flexibility during the transition. Please reach out to our office with any questions about current or future reservations.
Transition details
- Now through March 15: Reservations for rentals will continue to be placed through Fleet Services until Sunday, March 15.
- March 16 – 31: New reservations for rentals after March 15 will be booked with Hertz and provided by Hertz. Reservations made prior to March 15 with UI Fleet Services will be provided by UI Fleet Services.
- After March 31: All reservations for local rentals will be made with Hertz.
Any reservations already made for after Monday, March 31 will be emailed with additional details to ensure a smooth transition process and that university business is not interrupted.
Booking a rental vehicle with Hertz
Vehicle rentals will be booked online through a dedicated webpage for University of Iowa related rentals or by calling Hertz customer service.
The local Hertz office is located at 1029 South Riverside Drive #4, Iowa City, IA 52246 and will provide free transportation of a driver from campus to Hertz.
